Road to Argentis - Introduction

Well it was only a matter of time before my Horus Heresy addiction made its way to this blog. I am a known hardcore Blood Angel player, but I found myself in an interesting situation. I was asked to play Traitors for an event I am going to Labor Day weekend called Argentis Eternal Narrative Event.  I will be traveling to Central Florida carrying a fully painted army or die trying. I bought Sons of Horus a few months ago and then I caught Corona right around the time I was painting them. I spent about a month on the mend and never felt the need or urge pick up the brush to paint green since then since no one was playing due to COVID. I would like to think my love in The Great Angel was trying to push me away from destroying the dream of the Imperium of Mankind.

Well the chance is here. I have planned out a 3000 point list for the narrative event and a 2000 point list for the Centurion even afterward. I am going to try and post my progress as I go and my thoughts on my process of painting since some people seem interested. IT'S NOT ALL AIRBRUSHED! STOP ASKING!

This is what is done so far.

I got a long way to go since I only have a low-strength veteran squad with bolters. Talk about room for improvement. Well everyone wish me look. I got a few months to get the Job done and I am notoriously slow since I like to fiddle with stupid details that no one will see. Please guys post a comment or send me a half-hidden insult to keep me going. I feel bad for betraying my beloved wing daddy so I am going to need all the pushing I can get.

Babylon Part I - It all Began with a Sandstorm

Pre-Game April, 1947 the NDaK and Blutkreuz forces under the leadership of Erwin Rommel and Sigrid Von Thaler would commit their forces to the new Operation Babylon. The goal of this mission was to map the Mesopotamian area and search for ruins and hints that would point to artifacts and alien secrets that would help finish the endless war on Earth. With the COVID situation I wanted to let the girlfriend try the game and lets just say that it took off like a warm barrel of gunpowder. Having always wanted to start a blog and give content to people this just seemed like a natural extension of the situation to me. I hope anyone who finds these posts enjoys and I would love comments of love or criticism. These scenarios will follow the ones in the back of Operation Babylon. The first scenario would be an attack on two objectives along a fairly long map.  Game 1 - Outpost Whisky  Axis 150 vs Allied 115 Straight from the Octagon Allied Command, Master Sergeant Kara ha...

Road to Argentis - Part V

Hello fellow wargamers! I have been a painting machine and lost track of time. I stopped being as attentive as I wanted to be with taking pictures and really just put the nose on the grindstone. I imagine this isn't too big a deal as people want to see the end product more than the way there. Work has finally allowed me back in full time so I may might even be able to afford food for the next few days. Thankfully, I love my job as Chiropractor so it only managed to brighten my week. With a move coming up next month I have to be sure that I keep up the pace or will have to show up to the event with the dreaded "hobo paint jobs." These damn hobo paint jobs always manage to steal my chance of having the pretties ponies at the show so it must be avoided at all costs. Here are the updates! First, I finished up a chunk of the tactical marines/veterans with the hope that some extra bits will show up at my house in time to add in some extra details to spread through the entire ...

Road to Argentis - Part VI

Hello Wargamers! The time to smash models together is coming quick. I feel the desire for a fully painted army burning deep inside me and no amount of Tums will quell the burn! The world seems to conspire against me to make sure I don't finish the great work however. I had to move recently and this drastically reduced the amount of time I had to paint since my station wasn't set up, but I continued to do what I could as much as I could do it. My airbrush even broke while I was doing some basecoats. I sprinted to a Hobby Lobby to buy a brush to make sure I wasn't slowed down any longer than necessary. Thankfully, all of the models have paint on them. Unfortunately, I don't think I am going to be able to put the full Dylan paint job experience on all of them. Corners must be cut in order to get it all done in time to a reasonable level. I am going to do as much as possible and attempt to go for the gold, but I must temper my expectations.  I managed to finish the Reavers ...
