Road to Argentis - Part V

Hello fellow wargamers! I have been a painting machine and lost track of time. I stopped being as attentive as I wanted to be with taking pictures and really just put the nose on the grindstone. I imagine this isn't too big a deal as people want to see the end product more than the way there. Work has finally allowed me back in full time so I may might even be able to afford food for the next few days. Thankfully, I love my job as Chiropractor so it only managed to brighten my week. With a move coming up next month I have to be sure that I keep up the pace or will have to show up to the event with the dreaded "hobo paint jobs." These damn hobo paint jobs always manage to steal my chance of having the pretties ponies at the show so it must be avoided at all costs. Here are the updates!

First, I finished up a chunk of the tactical marines/veterans with the hope that some extra bits will show up at my house in time to add in some extra details to spread through the entire army. So this means that the Veterans are the only unit that is technically all "Done" with the exception of one base so I can add a mark III armor guy later. I really like to see the mix of armors in the squads to make them feel more organic. My squad marking idea is to paint the bases different colors of marble. All of the veins will be different colors to allow an easy and unobtrusive way to tell who belongs to which squad. The colors are very soft so it's hard to tell in the pics, but I will put up another post later that will go into more detail.
Just before the black was blocked.
I had to limit the number of models I was working on due to paint drying times. Bringing it down to more manageable bites will help me highlight the blacks before it dries up. This is a good way to do it just to prevent making errors that would take time to fix later on.

The Chosen Few
Finished Batch of Bois
A few more were finished and then I had to take a break from the tacticals. I craved finishing up Loken (Preator in case my custom one isn't finished in time) and the meltas for the veteran squad so I took some guilty pleasure time to finish them up.

Very proud of my Loken

Its a transfer, not freehanded
And then I had to finish up a rhino so that they could travel in style! I was very happy with how it came out. I think the snow adds just enough little detail and helps bring that booooootyfull green out for the eye to enjoy. I admit I was having alot of fun with these guys.

Lastly, I had to finish up something that has been on my desk well before this whole rapid painting project. I was working on him when I caught the Rona, and I figured it was about time the poor guy got finished up. He was very fun to paint. Unfortunately, due to being an ebay salvage I was not able to mess with the posing too much. He is very much just standing there, but I did everything I could to make it more interesting to look at. I eventually went with a dead Ultramarine because I felt the blue would help make the base far interesting without pulling from the model itself. The bright reds from the Eyes of Horus should bring the human eye where I want it.

Well, that is quiet the update in my opinion. Expect more in the future as the deadline draws ever closer. Keep up the boom boom and cya next time.

Babylon Part I - It all Began with a Sandstorm

Pre-Game April, 1947 the NDaK and Blutkreuz forces under the leadership of Erwin Rommel and Sigrid Von Thaler would commit their forces to the new Operation Babylon. The goal of this mission was to map the Mesopotamian area and search for ruins and hints that would point to artifacts and alien secrets that would help finish the endless war on Earth. With the COVID situation I wanted to let the girlfriend try the game and lets just say that it took off like a warm barrel of gunpowder. Having always wanted to start a blog and give content to people this just seemed like a natural extension of the situation to me. I hope anyone who finds these posts enjoys and I would love comments of love or criticism. These scenarios will follow the ones in the back of Operation Babylon. The first scenario would be an attack on two objectives along a fairly long map.  Game 1 - Outpost Whisky  Axis 150 vs Allied 115 Straight from the Octagon Allied Command, Master Sergeant Kara ha...

Road to Argentis - Part VI

Hello Wargamers! The time to smash models together is coming quick. I feel the desire for a fully painted army burning deep inside me and no amount of Tums will quell the burn! The world seems to conspire against me to make sure I don't finish the great work however. I had to move recently and this drastically reduced the amount of time I had to paint since my station wasn't set up, but I continued to do what I could as much as I could do it. My airbrush even broke while I was doing some basecoats. I sprinted to a Hobby Lobby to buy a brush to make sure I wasn't slowed down any longer than necessary. Thankfully, all of the models have paint on them. Unfortunately, I don't think I am going to be able to put the full Dylan paint job experience on all of them. Corners must be cut in order to get it all done in time to a reasonable level. I am going to do as much as possible and attempt to go for the gold, but I must temper my expectations.  I managed to finish the Reavers ...
